Folding Philosophy Into Your Yoga - Recorded Webinar
Asanas are the foundation of Iyengar Yoga. The shape of the poses, proper alignment, correct actions: all are important elements of teaching the Iyengar Method. But, as BKS Iyengar so powerfully demonstrated in his teachings, writings, and life, yoga is much more than these elements. A profound and all-encompassing philosophy underlies the methods we practice and teach. Yoga philosophy helps to bring greater depth to our asanas. In turn, through asanas we can truly experience how yoga philosophy reveals itself, and ultimately, transforms us.
I invite you to learn more about Yoga, its various components, and how to cultivate presence of mind.

The Topic of Touch in Yoga Today - Recorded Webinar
In the wake of numerous scandals regarding teachers inappropriately touching, harassing, and/or physically and sexually abusing their students, the yoga world is abuzz about the issue of touching students in yoga classes. Is it appropriate? Should the teacher ask before touching? What sorts of touch are ok? What not? Should the student preemptively make their preference known? What should the student do if they felt they were inappropriately touched? What should the teacher do if they felt they were unfairly accused of inappropriately touching?
The mission statement of Schumacher Yoga is to share tools, tips, and thoughts in hopes to inspire, to help deepen and expand your yoga practice. With the mission statement as the anchor, this webinar will examine some more recent cases of inappropriate touching, explore the issues raised above, and provide you the opportunity to ask questions and offer opinions and experiences. Through respectful and healthy dialogue I hope to create an environment that will foster a climate that encourages the cultivation of the union in which yoga refers: connection with our Self and with each other.
