The IYNAUS National Conventions, which take place every three years, serve many purposes. They provide an opportunity for students of all levels to learn from one of the most senior Iyengar teachers in the world. This year, Abhijata, Guruji’s granddaughter, is the teacher, as she was at the last Convention.
The gathering is also a chance to meet other members of the community that we might otherwise never have occasion to do. And it is an opportunity for many to visit with old friends who share the challenges and joys of this powerful practice. This shared experience then seeps out and feeds a sense of community, not only at the Convention, but across the country. The interconnectedness that occurs in community mirrors and fosters the feeling of interconnectedness that we touch within ourselves as we dive deeper into our practice.
In the discussion, those of us who attended the Convention and those who did not will share our thoughts and experiences and take a deeper look at the whole idea of community and how it relates to our practice and understanding of yoga.
All are welcome. Free. Refreshments will be served. Bethesda studio. 6:45-8:30pm.
